Last year, while simultaneously working with Standing There Productions, Rita Walsh produced the AFC-funded short film, Hugo, which was written by Rachel Bowen and directed by Nicholas Verso.

This week, not only has Hugo been selected to premiere at the Palm Springs International Film Festival and the Rhode Island International Film Festival in the USA , but Rachel Bowen has been nominated for an AWGIE (Australian Writers' Guild Industry Award) for her script. Further information about Hugo is available at the website www.hugothefilm.com. Congratulations to Rachel (who played Graphics Girl in our short film, I Could Be Anybody) and the rest of the team for such a strong start.

Rita also continues to work as Production Coordinator on Snake Tales, a kids' TV series being made for Westside Films and Channel Nine.

Lorin has been traveling around regional Victoria as part of her law-talking job, as well as preparing a few projects for further development. This is code for "trying to write things".

Stewart is working on the behind-the-scenes DVD extras for the upcoming ABC TV show, Very Small Business.

In August-September, Standing There has an Artists' Residency at Bundanon in New South Wales – a fantastic opportunity for us to work together on developing our projects in a beautiful setting and without the usual interruptions.

One of the guys who worked on our film and set up our website, Nick Jaffe, decided one day that he wanted to go to Germany, buy a boat, and sail home. Problem was, he didn't speak German, he had no money, and he'd never been in a boat. Despite some astonishing setbacks, he's actually doing it. Check him out here.
